TGF Management has been one of the largest and most active middle market buyout firms in the Southwest since our founding in 1992. For the first 12 years of our investing activities, we managed the Texas Growth Fund, a series of funds totaling $577 million dedicated to investing in companies located in the state of Texas. With the inception of our latest fund, Southwest Opportunity Partners, L.P., we have broadened our investment strategy to include companies located throughout the Southwestern United States.
We focus on the Southwest because we believe that the investment opportunities here are among the best in the U.S. The Southwest economy is large, diverse, and fast growing - Texas alone has the eighth largest economy in the world - and there is an entrepreneurial spirit here that is unique to this part of the country. Our roots in Texas and the Southwest run deep. Our investor base includes the largest public pension funds and endowments in the Southwest, including the endowments of The University of Texas and Texas A&M University. We pride ourselves on the network we've built that provides value to both our portfolio companies and investors.
Most of our transactions involve either family business owners seeking a transition or large companies seeking to divest a part of their operations. Our typical size company has revenue of between $50 million and $250 million, and our transactions usually fall between $25 million and $100 million in size. A common theme in our transactions is a conservative approach to leverage and our ability to provide significant value-added resources to our portfolio company management teams.
